Diggers’ bowls
A Rangiora team, skipped by Arch Ravenwood and comprising Dave Smith, Ken Pluck and Albie Day, won the annual Diggers’ bowls tournament last week-end.
In the final Ravenwood beat Alan Charteris (Papanui), whose team was Joe Mason, Keith Jones and Eric Courtis. Bill Rhodes’s Halswell team of Heg Nelson, Martin Harry and Peter Hamilton was third and Jack Reilly (Woolston W.M.C.), in partnership with Don Eggleton, Snow Rowe and Charlie Lee, took the fourth prize.
There were 142 entries and 48 came through from the section rounds on Saturday.
