Pokere to Pakuranga
PA Auckland Steven Pokere will play rugby for the Pakurapga Club in Auckland this season. The All Black midfield back settled on Pakuranga after a three-day visit to Auckland this week. He returned to Invercargill yesterday but will be back in Auckland with his family in time for the start of club rugby on March 31.
With the 25-year-old Pokere in the side, Pakuranga could make the top eight in Auckland club rugby for the first time. Pokere’s presence in Auckland means even more riches for Auckland’s coach, John Hart. Widely acknowledged as one of the world’s finest midfield backs, Pokere should give the Auckland backline even greater attacking power.
