Former trainer dies
PA Auckland Mr Jack Brown, a former trainer at Takanini, died at the week-end, aged 72. Mr Brown worked first as a plumber and builder, then established a stable in the late 19505.
Red Luca brought him
into prominence and Mr Brown was seldom without a useful horse for the next 20 years. Horses he trained included Smart Move, El Cid, Valletta, Harleigh March, Impartial, Tetrarch’s Gift, Cepheus, and Pennvshima.
