Noise from speedboats
Sir,—At least the Elton John concert was a “oncer.” The angry grinding roar of speedboats and their accompanying amplified commentary from the other side of the Estuary have just destroyed yet another week-end for many Mount Pleasant residents. It is a farce worthy of Gilbert and Sullivan — although a costly one — to employ noise control officers who are not on duty at the times when noise needs to be controlled. It is more than time the speedboats were removed to a waterway not in a residential area, and the Estuary left to yachts and other nonpolluting users.— Yours, etc., DENISE ANKER. February 26, 1984.
