Unusual service
An inter-denominational church service featuring music, dance, and theatre will be held on Sunday to celebrate the Christchurch
Festival. The service will be held in Christchurch Cathedral at 11 a.m. and will be taken by William Southgate, a com-
poser and conductor, who will travel from Wellington for it. A Christian layman, Mr Southgate’s theme will be "Is fame the name of the game?” The brass ensemble of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra will play a piece by Frescobaldi and will accompany one of the hymns. Three members of the Court Theatre, Jonathon Elsom, Yvonne Martin, and Alex Gilchrist, will present a dramatic interpretation of readings from the Bible, taking the parts of Biblical characters.
Dancers of the Southern Ballet, led by Russell Kerr, will present an interpretation of the readings in on a specially set up sage.
