Hong Kong sevens draw
New Zealand has drawn the same group as Hong Kong and Indonesia in the open rounds of the Cathay Pacific-Hong Kong Bank invitation sevens rugby tournament in Hong Kong at the end of next month. There are eight groups of three teams and the winner of each group will qualify for the main championship. The second team will enter the plate and the third will be assured of at least one
further game in the bowl event. The bowl is something new and the whole format has been designed to bring together teams which are roughly of an equal standard. The 24 teams competing come from Asia, the Pacific, North America and Britain, with the seeded four, based on past performances, being Australia. Korea, Fiji and Hong Kong.
