Cook Islands rep. to retire

NZPA special correspondent Rarotonga The Queen’s representative in the Cook Islands, Sir Gavin Donne, will retire from office on September 20. He has represented the Queen in the Cook Islands since 1975. Sir Gavin was also Chief Justice from that time until 1982 when he was appointed by the Queen to the newly constituted office of the Queen’s representative. Sir Gavin and Lady Donne will leave Rarotonga on July 26 for New Zealand, and then the United Kingdom where they will meet the Queen.
