Mr Lange in Brussels

NZPA staff correspondent

The Leader of the Opposition, Mr Lange, flew to Brussels yesterday for talks at E.C.C. headquarters.

He was due to see the president of the E.E.C. Commission, Mr Gaston Thorn, and the president of the European Parliament, Mr Piet Dankert.

Mr Lange will also have a meeting with the Commissioner for Industrial Affairs, Viscount Davignon (Belgium). Mr Lange has emphasised in talks with British Ministers and in speeches in Britain that the Labour Party fully backs the Government in seeking continued access for New Zea-

land to the E.E.C.

Speaking before he left for Brussels, Mr Lange said, “I am very pleased with my visit to London. It is the first time for some years that the Leader of the Opposition has been able to meet the Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary, Minister of Agriculture, and Leader of the Opposition here.”
