Probe into tables
PA Wellington The Accident Compensation Corporation has investigated folding tables after a Christchurch boy, aged four, died when he was trapped in the legs of one. Mr Harry Benis, chief technical adviser in the cor-
poration’s' safety division, said it could not be known if the table was the direct or indirect cause of the boy’s death until the Coroner’s report or the pathologist’s report was available. The accident happened in Christchurch on January 20.
Mr Benis said the table involved was still with the police. It was estimated to be about 30 years old and of a type generally used in restaurants or beer gardens. The corporation had looked at similar tables, which are imported from Australia.
