Smolensk on Derby
The Weedons horseman, Jack Smolenski, has been called in to drive Derby in this evening’s $lBO,OOO Auckland Trotting Cup. Richard Brosnan, the gelding’s Kerrytown trainer, has been ill this week and has forsaken the drive. Smolenski has also been engaged to drive Derby’s stablemate, Double Cove, in the second leg of the T.A.B. double.
