BEST BETS
Friday AUCKLAND DIRECT KIWI (Race 6) b g, syrs, by Knowing Bret-Kiwi Direct, trained at Cambridge by J. W. Langdon. Does not win them out of turn but looks poised for a breakthrough tonight after a spate of useful minor placings. SATURDAY AUCKLAND ERIDICK (Race 8), b c, 3yrs by Danseur Etoile-Rangitau, trained at Pukekohe by H. Wadham.
A model of consistency, he was a shade unlucky when second on Monday and looks the one to beat in this.
MARLBOROUGH DASHING CIRCLE (Race 10), br g, 4yrs, by Scottish Han-over-Southern Circle, trained at Tai Tapu by W. M. Denton.
Could hardly have been more impressive when he won at Nelson on Monday. Will be aided by the mobile start and should win.
WAIROA DIORELLA (Race 4), b m, 4yrs, by Sucaryl-Fabulon, trained at Woodville by J. Lynds. Consistent mare which was an unlucky second last time out. Should go one better. WANGANUI QUICKFIRE (Race 1), b m, 4yrs, by Aythorpe-Scarlette, trained at Foxton by K. Thomson.
Talented mare which was hindered by an easy track at her most recent start. Has had a chance to freshen since then and should clear maiden ranks tomorrow.
