Wolfenden leads
Peter Wolfenden holds a two-point lead over the Ladbrooks horseman, Colin de Filippi, in this season’s national drivers’ premiership, at the completion of yesterday’s racing. Wolfenden, who had a lead of three on de Filippi after he won two penaltybearing races at last Wednesday’s Hawke’s Bay on-course only meeting, reined Tact Byrd to victory at the Northland meeting at Tuakaka yesterday to take his season’s tally to 50. De Filippi, who has pushed Wolfenden hard this season, drove Lenard George and Dashing Circle to win at Nelson yesterday, taking his season’s record to 48.
