Crafts co-op. moves
Gefn Crafts, a cooperative of craftspeople, will move to new premises today. The Mayor of Christchurch, Sir Hamish Hay, will officially open the City Mall premises at 2.30 p.m. The co-operative began about four years ago with four members. It now has 17, with a wide range of crafts including weaving, jewellery, woodturning, patchwork, cane work, batik, and creative knitting. The move to larger premises means that the cooperative’s members will be able to demonstrate as well as sell their work. The move was made with the help of a loan from the Cooperative Enterprises Loans Trust. It is the first loan granted to a Christchurch co-operative. An audio-visual presentation on New Zealand cooperatives will be . shown ujptil Friday.
