Sea cadets camp on Ripapa Is.
Thirty-three sea cadets from Christchurch, Wellington, and Dunedin are taking part in the twenty-sixth annual sea cadets summer camp being held at the training ship Jervois on Ripapa Island. The emphasis for the camp is on outdoor activities, including power and sail boat handling, .22 rifle shooting, first aid, search and rescue and the use of a flying fox from the island, in Lyttelton Harbour, to the mainland behind.
Food preparation during the course is being done by sea cadets who have qualified in cooking courses during the year at the R.N.Z.A.F. base at Wigram.
The camp began on Wednesday and will run until tomorrow. The commanding officer of T.S. Cornwall, Lieutenant Neil Smith, is commanding the camp.
