Two trailer sailer titles
Canterbury yachtsmen have returned with two division titles from the New Zealand trailer yachting championships, sailed on Lake Te Anau. Arthur Simmonds sailed Krumpshimps to victory in Division A, taking both line
and championship honours, while Russell Stokes achieved the same results with Brighton Express in Division D. The two Canterbury wins were a contrast of old and new — Simmonds sailing an older boat in the Harvey 18,
and Stokes the only boat of the new Elliot 6.5 m design in New Zealand.
In spite of the handicap of breaking a boom during the third race and. missing the next, Stokes still managed to outclass his opposition, revelling in the strong southerlies which marked the last days of competition. Results:—
