Oils show signs off recovery
Oil Fields firmed, but Kupe Petroleum was steady, on a busy New Zealand share market yesterday, after news that work was to begin on a new oil exploration well off the coast of Taranaki. Both issues are involved in the new well. Other oil companies showed signs of recovering, and Cue Energy stood out on a gain of 7c to 35c. The industrial sector continued to firm, its NZUC indicator rising 10.70 points to 1179.78. Farmers’ Trading Company stood out on a gain of 15c, and other big improvements went to Brierley, CBA Finance, Marac, National Insurance, and Wattie. Alex Harvey was up 10c to 285 c after its share split. Among the falls were Feltex, Goodman, New Zealand South British, and UEB. Motor Holdings was actively traded, gaining 7c to 140 c, and Mainstay Properties had its first price change since listing on Tuesday.
