Gold heist charges
NZPA-PA London Three men appeared in court in London yesterday over the £26 million ($5B million) Brinks-Mat gold bullion raid, Britain’s biggest robbery.
The three south-east London men are John McAvoy, aged 32, a builder; Anthony White, aged 40, unemployed; and Brian Robinson, aged 40, a motor trader.
They were charged with robbing Michael Richard Scouse and others of a quantity of gold, platinum, diamonds, and travellers cheques valued at £ 26,369,788 and were remanded in police custody to Monday.
The haul was taken from a security warehouse near Heathrow Airport on November 26.
