Man dies after dust inhalation
NZPA Perth A Perth man has died from a rare form of meningitis after inhaling dust from a swallows’ nest as it was being removed from his car repair shop, according to the Health Department in Canberra.
Neville Flynn was caught in the fine dust as workmen were getting nests out of his
shop roof, and was later' admitted to hospital, and died from Cryptococcus neoformans, a. fungal meningitis common among birds. A Perth doctor told reporters that most people were resistant to the infection, but Mr Flynn was unlucky that the fungus infected the cover of his brain.
