The day in Parliament
Members of Parliament offered eulogies to a former Prime Minister and Gover-nor-General, Sir Keith Holyoake, when Parliament sat at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. Sir Keith died early yesterday morning. Normal business was set aside for the eulogies. The House passed a motion by the Prime Minister, Mr Muldoon, “That this House place on record its high sense of the devoted and distinguished services rendered to New Zealand by the late Right Honourable Sir Keith Jacka Holyoake.” As a mark of respect to Sir Keith, the House observed a minute’s silence and adjourned at 4.18 p.m. It will sit again at 9.30 a.m. today.
