FrancevicMorton car disqualified

PA Auckland The Holden Commodore of John Morton and Robbie Francevic has been disqualified from its winning position in the Manfeild three-hour .saloon car race held on October 30. The decision to exclude the car was made at a Motor Sport Association of New Zealand court of inquiry early this morning. The inquiry was called for after several competitors threatened to withdraw from the final race of the Benson and Hedges at Pukekohe on Saturday. Those drivers claimed the front brakes on the MortonFrancevic car were illegal and that it should have been excluded from the result list after post-race checks by the organisers* technical officials.

But last night the court of inquiry ruled that the brakes were not eligible.
