Random testing
- Sir,—With regard to random breath testing, people seem to have lost sight of the old adage that the innocent have nothing to fear from the policeman, only the guilty. As has been evident from the results of the introduction of random breath testing in New South Wales where the road toll for last month was the lowest since 1962, random testing is very effective in saving lives. If it was successful in saving only one life, it should be introduced. We should stop talking about rights and start talking about responsibilities.—Yours, etc., STEPHEN C. CLOSE. November 6, 1983.
