Clyde dam cost '$589M’
Parliamentary reporter
The latest estimate of the cost of completing the Clyde dam project is $589 million, says the Minister of Works, Mr Friedlander.
Replying to a question in Parliament by Mr S. J. Rodger (Lab., Dunedin North), Mr Friedlander said this was considerably less in real terms than the $513 million allowed for the project in 1980. He said the cost of additional foundation work was within the amount allowed for “unmeasurable factors" by the 1980 estimate. The additional foundation work had cost $9 million comprising S2M for right abutment foundations, S6M for central foundations and SIM for left abutment foundations.
