Preparation for the resurfacing of the Chevron all-weather running track at Queen Elizabeth II Park has begun. Giving the track a dry sweep is Mr Francis Rowney, of Pavroc Holdings, the contractor for the resurfacing. The track was laid 10 years ago for the tenth Commonwealth Games and has lasted well. Most of the wear has been on the two inside lanes and at the starting areas. The repair work, which will cost $72,000, will take about three weeks. The next two inter-club track and field meetings at the park will be on the grassed No. 2 ground.
