Three counts after fatal accident
As a result of a fatal accident in Papanui Road on Tuesday, a factory hand appeared on three charges in the District Court at Christchurch yesterday. Mitchell Stuart Hooper, aged 17 (Mr M. J. Leggatt), was remanded without plea to November 3. Bail was set at $lOOO by Judge Frampton.
He is charged with causing the death of Antonia May Dillon by carelessly
using a car while driving at excessive speed, failing to stop when, as a result of the accident, another person was injured, and failing to ascertain injury. Hooper also appeared on charges of behaving in a disorderly manner, and urinating in public on October 13. Because of his non-ap-pearance to face these two charges on Wednesday, a warrant for his arrest had been issued.
