The first foal of the top racemare, La Mer, to make her debut, Loughmore has done everything asked of her at trials and looks capable of a winning debut. Rise in class in this field will not stop him repeating. ROTORUA EBONY BELLE (Race 8), blk f, 3yrs, by Licorice StickLady Leeanne; trained at Te Aroha by K. B. Opie. Top-rated juvenile of last season resuming. Won all her four starts last term and has the class to start her three-year-old campaign on a winning note in this. WELLINGTON MELVIN (Race 9), b g, 4yrs, by Staff Sergeant—Lively Lass; trained at Cambridge by K. S. and Mrs Browne. Outclassed his rivals in the corresponding race on the first day of the meeting, showing easy mastery of a heavy track. Might have similar conditions tomorrow.
