PA Wellington For the second year in a row the Wairarapa Racing Club’s popular New Year race meeting will be held at a venue other than Tauherenikau. The club has yet to recover the totalisator facilities lost in a fire last year and hopes to race at either Otaki or Trentham.
The club’s secretary, Mr Jim Watters, said the club, had to abandon plans to install the new on-course Jetbet system at Tauherenikau for the New Year fix-
ture. The club would be able
to afford the system only after November 1 when it received its share of the T.A.B.’s profit from last season.
