ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES Electrical/Electronics DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (BE/BSc) SPECIAL PROJECTS MANAGER (BE/NZCE) Location Christchurch We have been retained by a substantial Christchurch-based company to assist in the recruitment of senior engineering staff. The company is part of an International group and specialises in the design, production and marketing of electrical and electronic products and systems. The Engineering Division has restructured, creating these positions to allow for increased responsiveness to changing market demands and technology. DEVELOPMENT MANAGER Responsibility is for the co-ordination, control and leadership of the hardware, software and systems design teams. Experience in the latest technology including system design, digital and analogue circuit design, microprocessor based product design and software development is essential. Applicants must have successfully managed a team of engineers and be familiar with budgeting, scheduling, training and development of subordinates. Minimum education requirement is a BE or BSc in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent. SPECIAL PROJECTS MANAGER Responsibility is for the planning, co-ordination and execution of major national projects in the fields of fire and security systems, building services, power board SCADA systems, communication systems and industrial control systems. Experience in some or all of the above fields is desirable but not essential. The preferred educational requirement is an Engineering degree although those with NZCE and an outstanding background in the field should not be deterred from applying. Both positions demand a level of experience and maturity that is most likely to be found in people aged over 30 years. Substantial engineering project and/or contract management experience and the ability to establish and work within budgets and time plans is essential. Well developed man-management skills are also necessary. These positions are of major importance as each appointee will be expected to take a leading role in developing the engineering management skills and positively influencing the direction of the organisation.
