Palace knife threat

NZPA London A policeman guarding Buckingham Palace yesterday overpowered a man who threatened a member of the Royal Household with a knife, said Scotland Yard. Constable Stephen Dunsdon, aged 36, escaped without injury after the man, described as an Asian, aged 46, threw a curved knife at him.

The drama started as a Palace employee was leaving by one of the main gates.

The armed man confronted the Palace staff man as he walked through the north central gate. Mr Dunsdon, on duty at the gate, rushed to intercept the man who then threw a knife with a curved blade at him. The knife missed.
