Refinery fire costs
PA Wellington The Marsden Point refinery fire on September 1, cost New Zealand about $lO million, said the Minister of Energy, Mr Birch. Precise figures would not be known for some time as there were insurance factors, extra product import costs, and payments continuing into November for vessels delayed at anchor,
said Mr Birch.
The full refinery start-up would not be now until October 8, he said. ! Dangerous goods and factories inspectors from the Labour Department were studying the refinery’s assessment of the causes of the fire. The Minister of Labour, Mr Bolger, will make a statement on the causes.
