Table tennis selection
Grant McCarroll, the promising young Riccarton player, has been included in the New Zealand junior table tennis team to compete in the Australian championships in Perth next year. McCarroll was a beaten finalist in the under-16 boys doubles final at the New Zealand championships in Auckland a month ago. The New Zealand team will compete in the inter-state
Australian teams’ event before taking part in the individual competitions. The other boys are GaryTraill, of Northland, and David Kilminster, from Palmerston North. Two of the girls, Eileen Hoete, of Auckland, and Yvonne Cuthbert, from Hutt Valley, were in the team last year, while Tania McAvinue, of Manawatu, was the reserve in 1982.
