“Privatisation”
Sir,—Your feature article on “privatisation” is one more indication of the blatant and cynical attitude of our present Government towards State-owned assets, the property of the New Zealand people. What we are witnessing is the rape of New Zealand, where hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayers’ assets are being sold to private enterprise at bargain basement prices, and is nothing short of criminal. For the last few years private interests have been feeding from a gigantic cookie jar, with the benevolent approval of the National Government. If the people of New Zealand hope to salvage anything out of this vicious plunder of their assets, their choice must be clear. Boot them out of office in November 1984 and elect a Labour government. For too long we have been fooled and conned. They don’t fool Wolfgang Rosenberg—Yours, etc.,
A. MacKENZIE. September 22, 1983.
