Son on assault charge
On a charge of assaulting his father with intent to injure him, a man, aged 29, was remanded in custody to September 26 without plea when he appeared before Judge Pain in the District Court yesterday. John Elliot Garron, a sickness beneficiary (Mr K. J. Osborn, a duty solicitor), is charged with committing the alleged offence on September 21.
Detective Sergeant B. M. Roswell said he had checked with the hospital yesterday morning to find that the complainant was still in the intensive care unit and on the seriously ill list.
Alcohol drunk by both the defendant and the complainant had contributed to the charge of assault, he said.
