Arthur’s Pass excursion
Sir,—Congratulations to Mr Neill Cooper for his excellently run excursion on August 28. The excursion marked the passing of the Dg class locomotives in their unrebuilt □form. These locomotives have for ■S’
years been used as slaves to either the rebuilt Dgs, the Djs orthe Di class locomotives. Thanks should go to the Locomotive Engineers’ Association for allowing this locomotive (Dg2468) to be driven to Arthur’s Pass with a rebuilt Dg, number 2007, being used as the slave, though the other way around on the homeward journey. Special thanks should go to Geoff Rossiter, Colin Dash, and Bill Pierson for their many hours of unending support, and to the Railways Corporation for allowing Dg2468 to be brought back into service after 3 months of well earned retirement. — Yours, etc., HAMISH HORN. August 29, 1983.
