Nuclear petition delivery
A petition to have New Zealand declared a nuclear-weapon-free zone will be delivered to Parliament on Friday, the day before Hiroshima Day. The secretary of the New Zealand Nuclear Free Zone Committee, and organiser of the petition, Mr Larry Ross, said the 49, — 100-signature petition would be received at Parliament and delivered by the member of Parliament for Avon, Mrs Mary Batchelor.
The petition, which was launched in December, 1981, calls on Parliament to declare New Zealand a nuclear-weapon-free zone with a foreign policy based on positive neutrality and international peacemaking.
