More seek legal aid
Parliamentary reporter Some 1315 more applications were made for legal aid in 1982-83 than in 198182, according to the annual report of the Legal Aid Board. It said the number of applications rose from 10,188 to 11,503, and the net increase in cost was $85,327 (3.4 per cent) to $2,594,489. The average domestic case (which made up 93 per cent of all cases) was $250, which was down nearly $4 on the previous year.
