Resignation called for
PA Wellington The Minister of Justice, Mr McLay, should resign after the defeat of the Privy Council abolition remit at the National Party conference, said Social Credit’s law and justice spokesman, Mr Martin Hine, yesterday. Mr McLay’s support of abolition of the Privy Council as part of New Zealand’s legal system, which was “seriously out of kilter” with the legal profession had now proved to be out of line with his own party’s views, Mr Hine said. “The Minister of Justice should resign and return to the backbenches.”
