Chairman’s post a milestone
PA Wellington The first woman to be appointed to chair the board of a public corporation is Mrs Vicky Duncan, who will assume the chairmanship of the Accident Compensation Corporation. She will take office on September 1, succeeding Judge D. B. Inglis who will retire as chairman. He has been appointed a District Court judge. Mrs Duncan, of Himterville was a foundation member of the A.C.C. board, and is also a Rangitikei County Councillor and a member of the Beautiful New Zealand Committee. Announcing the appointment, the Minister of Labour, Mr Bolger, said he was sure that under Mrs Duncan’s leadership, the high standard the board had achieved would be maintained. The vacancy created by Mrs Duncan’s appointment will be filled by former Social Welfare Minister, Mr Bert Walker, of Christchurch.
