Pregnancy counsel
Sir,—The statement made by Mrs Nina Barry-Martin in “The Press” on Saturday, July 30, casts an unjustified slur on the integrity of counsellors involved in counselling pregnant women. There are already a number of agencies in Christchurch that provide this service. In particular, Pregnancy Help has experienced professional counsellors, as well .as trained volunteers. Besides counselling, this organisation offers support and practical assistance to anyone with problems related to pregnancy or to new motherhood. This includes home help, child care, accommodation, transport, and referrals for professional help when required.— Yours, etc., PATRICIA MAGUIRE, President, Pregnancy Help. August 1, 1983.
