Dress standard of drivers spotlighted
Criticism of the way taxi drivers dress will be discussed by members of the two Christchurch taxicab organisations, Blue Star and Gold Band, at their annual meetings next month. The standard of dress of taxi drivers was discussed at a review of taxicab services in the Christchurch Transport- District yesterThe investigation officer for the Ministry of Transport, Mr K. J. Boddy, said that standards fell below a satisfactory level in a minority of instances. The No. 9 Transport Dis-
trict Licensing Authority, Mr D. L. Hogan, said that he would like both companies to look at the matter of dress and to enforce more rigidly any guidelines set down. The . Authority said jandals should be outlawed and closer attention should be focused on the types of shorts and shirts worn during summer. Both Blue Star and Gold Band said that they were worried about the standard of dress and were looking at making shirts, jerseys, and trousers or some form of uniform available for their drivers.
