N.Z. finishes fourth
NZPA Hong Kong New Zealand beat the Japanese national team, 6658, in its last game of the William Jones Cup basketball tournament, in Taiwan, early yesterday. The win assured New Zealand of fourth place out of 14 nations in the tournament, which ends today, said the team’s manager,
Brian Monds, yesterday. The U.S. University side, Vanderbilt, won the cup with Italy and Scotland playing for second and third places today. The cup had done the New Zealand team a lot of good, said Mr Monds. “It has been very good preparation for the coming Australian Olympic qualifying series.”
