Sudan rescue
NZPA Khartoum Five foreign relief workers, held for the last week by rebels in southern Sudan, were reported to be in good health after their release by Sudanese troops who killed 18 of the insurgents. The hostages, two Americans, a West German, a Canadian, and a Dutchman, were “safe in Juba (the southern Sudan capital) and they are in very good health,” it said. The rebels were demanding a SUS6O,OOO (591,000) ransom.
