Boxer gives up title
NZPA-Reuter Mexico City Lupe Pintor, of Mexico, is being relieved of his World Boxing Council (W.8.C.) bantamweight title because he is not fit enough to defend it, a spokesman for the W.B.C. has said. Pintor broke his jaw in a motor-cycle accident in March and has not been
able to fight since because the fracture has not healed sufficiently, the spokesman said. The top-ranked American contender, Alberto Davila, will meet the third-ranked Francisco Bejines of Mexico for the crown. No date or venue has yet been set.
