Compulsory unionism

Sir,—At last a return to voluntary unionism appears to be about to happen. hope that it will be a

true return and not one that is a compromise in that we will still have the closed shop situation. When compulsory unionism is gone, along with its stand-over tactics and other anti-social behaviour, this country can look forward to an unprecedented growth in its economy and the well-being of its population. Mr Bolger and Mr Muldoon are to be commended for their stand on this matter — a stand which I am sure the vast majority of New Zealanders are grateful for. — Yours, etc., GERARD C. BAILEY. July 8, 1983.
