Win for softballers
NZPA staff correspondent Hong Kong New Zealand dominated play in its game against Australia in the Hong Kong international women’s softball tournament in Hong Kong yesterday morning to win 3-0. All three runs were scored in the bottom of the second innings when safe hits by Jane Earnshaw,
Betsy Swinton and Edith Tuavera, brought runners Natalie Hazlewood, Earnshaw and Swinton home safely. The New Zealand team never relaxed its grip after that with the pitcher, Debbie Mygind, sealing up a poor Australian batting lineup. Mygind took nine strikeouts and gave up just one safe hit.
