Player suspended for seven years
PA Auckland The Auckland Rugby League’s judicial committee decided last evening to suspend Byers Beazley for seven years for injuring another player. Beazley, aged 29, of the Mangere East club, was alleged to have bitten the left eye of Sven Guttenbeil in a senior B contest between Mangere East and Pon-
sonby-Maritime at Massey Park on June 18. Guttenbeil needed surgery for the eye injury. Mr Lou Pearsons, chairman of the judicial committee, said that the decision to suspend Beazley until the end of June, 1990, had been a difficult one. He declined to elaborate. Beazley was not available for comment.
