Quads meet family
PA Auckland The Asiata quadruplets — Lakena, Tuaula, Lise and Pato — left Auckland yesterday on a surprise visit to Western Samoa to celebrate their third birthday. The girls, who will turn three on Saturday, will meet grandparents, aunts, and uncles for the first time during their four-week stay in Apia. their mother, Miss Lisa Asiata, will be reunited with her son, aged four, whom she last saw in 1980. Miss Asiata, the first Western Samoan mother of quadruplets, was sent to
New Zealand for their birth because of inadequate facilities at Apia National Hospital. She said yesterday that her family had been wanting to meet the quadruplets for a long time. Miss Asiata and her aunt, Miss Potoae Asiata, with whom the quads and their mother have been living in Otara, decided only last week to make the trip. “We wanted it it be a surprise for the family at home,” said Miss Lise Asiata. “We did not want to get the children excited too early.”
