Wage-fixing talks resume
PA Wellington Talks on a new system of fixing wages resumed yesterday after a three-month break. The chairman, Mr B. V. Galvin, the Secretary to the Treasury, would not reveal what was discussed when the talks stopped last evening. The secretary of the Federation of Labour, Mr K. G. Douglas, said that the meet-
ing was a positive one. The Government, unions, and employers, are represented on the wage-fixing committee. Mr Douglas said that the parties had agreed on procedural arrangements for future meetings. The Employers’ Federation advocate, Mr Max Bradford, also said that the talks had been positive. The parties had agreed to meet again on July 7, he said.
