Balmain and St George kept alive their hopes of reaching the Sydney rugby league topfive championship play-offs when they won their matches last week-end. Balmain beat Illawarra, 10-4, and St George had the better of CronullaSutherland, 27-18. Their prospects were further improved when the equal fourth sides. Eastern Suburbs and North Sydney, were beaten.
