Fletcher prize
Ray Rogers of Birkenhead, Auckland, is the winner of the $3OOO 1983 Fletcher Brownbuilt Pottery Award. ' . Mr Rogers’ piece, titled “Fungoid Form,” is a pitfired sphere. It won the award from more than 300 entries from 10 countries. Three previous winners of the award were included in this year’s merit awards. They were John Anderson, of Wellsford, who won the first award in 1977, Rick Rudd of Birkdale (1978) and
Debbie Pointon of Raumati Beach (1980). The 115 entries chosen by the judge for exhibition will be on display in the Exhibition Hall of the Auckland Museum until June 19. Included in the exhibition is an entry from the judge of last year’s award, Gwyn Pigott of Australia. Other awards went to Itsumi Ito and Midori Amano of Japan, Royce McGlashen of Nelson, and John Sweden of Albany.
