Swiss rider killed

NZPA-Reuter Rijeka, Yugoslavia A Swiss rider, Rolf Reuttiman, died from head injuries after crashing during the 125 cc race in the Yugoslav motor-cycle grand prix in Rijecka, Yugoslavia, yesterday, officials said. He was taken on a stretcher first to a movable hospital at the Grobnik Rijeka circuit and then to a hospital in the city, but doctors could not save his life. Reuttiman lost control of his machine on a straight section of the circuit after

passing at high speed through an S-shaped curve. He came off the track and hit a steel protective fence. The race was won by another Swiss, Bruno Kneubuehler, riding an MBA. An American, Freddie Spencer, riding a Honda, won the 500 cc race from his fellow countrymen, Randy Mamola, on a Suzuki and Eddie Lawson and Kenny Roberts on Yamahas. Spencer now leads the world championship with 83 points. Roberts is second on 70 and Mamola third with 51.
